The time has come. If you feel strongly about the healthcare legislation that is before Congress right now, TODAY is the last day you have to let your representative know where you stand.
According to every poll about this issue, a commanding percentage of Americans oppose this legislation quite strongly. I certainly do. The polls aren’t even close on this issue. The only people who want this legislation are the liberals in Congress.
Under the proposed regulations, you will be FORCED to have health care insurance – and you will be taxed at a very high rate to make that happen. In fact, your taxes will increase IMMEDIATELY – as of Monday, if the bill passes – but any “benefits” you should theoretically receive from this program will not begin for four whole years.
Furthermore, the IRS will have authority to enforce your compliance, and will have the authority to fine and/or jail you. And if you already have health insurance, you’ll only be allowed to keep your current plan as long as nothing about it ever changes. The moment your premiums, coverage, deductibles or anything about your insurance plan changes, you’ll be forced to use one of the government plans. The net effect is that private health insurance will cease to exist since the government will have sole authority to set prices. Remember: Only the government can operate at a deficit. Real businesses with real accountability cannot do so. Obama knows this. His objective is to put insurance companies out of business and to TOTALLY control your health care, and by extension, your life.
If you’ve ever been to your local Department of Motor Vehicles or otherwise had to interact with the government, you know how inefficient, inaccurate, time consuming and genuinely horrible it can be. Only this time, the issue hanging in the balance isn’t just your driver’s license, it is your HEALTH and the WELL BEING of your family. It’s exactly this reason that prompted a high official in Canada’s government to come to the United States for heart surgery recently: He knew that it would be months until he got the surgery he needed in Canada because uses a socialist health care model exactly like that endorsed by our socialist president Obama.
I’ve never feared for my own freedom and the continued viability of this country more than I do at this time. This is a grave, grave situation.
Don’t let party labels get in the way of objective thought about this. If you’re a big proponent of “bipartisanship”, consider this: The only thing that is bipartisan about this bill is the opposition to it. All Republicans oppose it, and many Democrats oppose it. And many of the Democrats who “support” it are doing so only because the Obama administration has offered huge political bribes and/or direct threats to them. In fact, many of the current supporters voted no the first time they were presented with legislation of this type and have now switched as a direct result of cold, calculated bribery and threats.
This is disgusting. It’s Chicago thug politics, and it’s headquartered in the White House.
You may been led to believe that if congress passes this bill, it will result in a massive switch in power in the November elections, and that the new Congress will be able to correct this damage. Don’t count on it. This will be virtually impossible to turn around once it’s in place. Please do not make the assumption that you can sit idly by on the hopes that future congresses will correct the problem. That’s extremely unlike: The Only way to handle this is to do what you can to apply pressure to your congressman/woman and let them know that you do NOT support this government takeover of healthcare.
This is the day for action. The vote is going to be held on SUNDAY, so today is it if you want to express your opinion. If your Congressman is a Democrat, they need to hear from you today if you wish for them to oppose this health care system takeover. This can not wait… you must take action right now. In two weeks we will finally have a health care bill that slows down the biggest criminals (read insurance companies) in this country from robbing the people.
This bill will start to bend the health care curve and prevent costs from soaring at 2-3 times the inflation rate. It will give small business a chance to provide health care to employees at a reasonable cost. It will make our large industries more competitive with foreign manufacturers since health care cost can be reduced.
This will be the greatest piece of legislation in the last 40 years.
You are “gravely” mistaken here. Health Care Reform is much much needed in this country. This is not a perfect plan but it is a start. Big Insurance Companies and Drug Companies are ruining this country along with the Big Banks. The Country is in a shambles after 8 years of Bush/Cheney. I, and many many others, will no longer put up with these lies, hipocracies and propaganda put out by the right wing machine.

I am sick of the mud slinging that the REPUBLICIANS are doing in an effort to confuse the general public. Put some PROOF behind all the bogus crap being put out by the REPUBLICIANS and any and all corrupt politicians. You buy in if you want, but quit the mud slinging and shut up unless you can and will provide facts with your claims!!!!!
Yes, please call and call often! It is very hard to get through to any one and many of the Dems have turned off their phones so they will not get any more calls, you will get a busy signal or a full voice mail. Send faxes also, all have fax lines and most list them on their website.
If this Obama care idea is so good, why do 37 states already have lawsuits being readied against the Feds if this passes? The governors of most states and many of the state legislators understand what this means for our country and our economy! Several states have already or are passing laws preventing this from taking effect in their state. That should tell you something.
Here is one last thought for those wanting to say this is a wonderful bill. The insurance companies operate at around a 2-3 percent profit margin. How many of you investors would like a 2-3 percent profit on your business? How many of you could even operate at that small of a margin? When the average inflation of this country is between 3-4 percent, it would not take long for you to be broke.
When 500 billion dollars is being taken from Medicare and 55 billion from Social Security to make up the budget for this new bill, how is that going to make things better? When all of the doctors I know are thinking about quitting or becoming underground doctors, where everything is cash, no insurance at all allowed, and a very reduced amount of patients, how is that going to make things better?
I do not need some skuzzy politician telling me when or how much I can see a doctor. The current system is flawed in some ways but the government has become flawed in almost all ways! Even if I do not have insurance or if I am under insured I can find help that does not cause a collapse of the country. Running a small business is hard and getting good insurance for employees is not always easy but it is a lie to say the things Obama, Pelosi, Reid and others are saying. If this passes from what I have read and I have read most of the bills, I will close up shop and let everyone go. It will not be practical to deal with the IRS in one more way, telling me if I am doing a good enough job for my people or not.
When I have dealt with the IRS, it is like dealing with the most incompetent company on earth. If any other business was run this way, it would have no customers after about a day, maybe a week and would be forced to close its doors right away. I am not willing to be forced into even more contact with them.
So call and call often while we still have a chance.

It’s such a scary thought to me each time I think about which direction this country is heading to. My family escaped communist countries twice and lost all the assets my grandfathers worked so hard all their lives and the tragic death of my grandparents over the government’s control of their lives. No doubt we are having a tyranny government. How foolish are the people who cheer for the Obama’s policy. I never, ever thought that the people in the U.S. would tolerate dictatorship. People here enjoy freedom and they won’t put up any thing that violates their rights, are they blinded with the empty promises. Chris, Where do you get this non-sense. Do you make this stuff up as you go along? The insurance companies are some of the most profitable companies in the world.
We presently have 45k people in this country dying every year for lack of health insurance. That is unheard of in any other industrial country.
We spend close to 20% of GDP on health care and cover about 60% of the population. The rest of the industrialized countries, and many other countries cover 100% of their population while spending around 10% of GDP. AND THEY OUT LIVE US.
We have the only country in the industrialized world where a large portion of the population lives in fear of health care costs, where most people think twice before going to the DR’s office because of the cost.
I could go on and on but the real point is this. When you explain the main points to people, them like it. All the arguments against it have come from the insurance companies and the for profit hospitals companies. When someone has a dog in the fight, do not expect him to tell you the truth, and don’t expect to get it from the corporate press. Their boards of directors sit on the boards at the insurance companies too.
I had no trouble getting through to my Congresswomen. Their phone works fine.

I thought you were beyond such right-wing fear-mongering. Twisting things is easy. Based on your commentary, it would be easy to say, “Brian Ellis would rather pad the pockets of wealthy insurance companies execs and let people who can’t afford health care coverage DIE before insurance companies were forced to manage costs. And people with pre-existing conditions should never ever change jobs to avoid losing coverage.” So, do I have that right?

Are you kidding, all you PRESIDENT Obama haters care about is how much its going to cost vs. everyone having a chance to have health care coverage. I just buried a uncle that didn’t have health care coverage & couldn’t get proper treatment for prostate cancer. One hospital basically diagnosed him & called him a cab to hit the road because he didn’t have health care coverage. Had to end up applying for disability which tooks months to get & when he finally did the cancer had spread into his bones including his brains. The previous week before I buried my uncle a good friend of mine buried his wife that died of cancer because they could afford healthcare coverage. He paid out of his pocket & spent all his saving & retirement money because when she was living one medicine he paid for was $1600… So, yes I will call MY congressman & tell them HURRY UP & PASS THE THE BILL… I’m laid off right now & I’m paying for COBRA insurance which is ridiculous, cost more than when I was working..
So, GET a LIFE STOP this hating & fear tactics you are trying to spread.. There are a bunch of greedy bastards(insurance companies in general) in this country who have been lining their pockets by robbing TAX paying American citizens with high cost of health care making the poor poorer & squeezing the middle class…
