Richard Davis, a South Carolina real estate investor and star of A&E’s “Flip this House,” will receive an award slightly in excess of $4 million as a result of his triumph in a nearly five-year legal battle with A&E Television Networks[1]. Davis, who starred in the show in its inaugural season in 2005, claimed that the television network had agreed to split show revenues 50-50. Although this is an unusually high percentage in the television industry and there was no written agreement to that effect, a federal appeals court upheld a ruling in Davis’ favor. Davis left the show after the first season and was never paid. He also claimed that he came up with the concept for the show in 2004.

“I created it [the show] and they stole it,” said Davis, adding that his lawsuit was a “matter of principle” and “I’m not bitter anymore.”
