Have you noticed that there’s been far less news about the real estate market of late?  I certainly have.

The silence is deafening.  There have been the normal reports that come out on a weekly and monthly basis, but very little other commentary about the impending doom and utter despair in the real estate market.

Instead, the dominant news has been about the STEEP decline of oil and the significant increase in value for the U.S. dollar.  I know that these markets are (on the surface) unrelated to U.S. real estate, but follow my logic for a moment.

The press gives favor to stories in which there is, or may be, “blood in the streets”.  In other words, they focus where the most negative news happens to be.

What does that say about the present state of affairs concerning real estate?  It means, very simply, that the real estate market isn’t widely considered to be where the action will be – at least in terms of negative news.

Yet again, one can learn far more about the real estate market and the world around you by focusing on what the press isn’t saying instead of what they are saying.
